Though you may not expect to find luxury in the Middle East, one trip to the city of Dubai will change your mind.  After making a reputation for “7 star hotels,” Dubai has been growing in population and tourism, causing them to grow otherwise to accommodate their guests.  They are adding 30 new hotels along the Venice-style canals, along with luxury townhouses, and adding more transportation opportunities to help with the growing traffic of the city.  They are on their way to having the first urban railway system in the Middle East with the first two lines opening in 2009 totaling 47 miles.  The state airline of Dubai , Emirates, is also doubling its fleet to 250 planes.

Hotels are also booming to accommodate the luxury guests expect when visiting Dubai .  The Palm Jumeirah, which is in the shape of a 3-mile-wide palm tree, is located along the canals, and also to be added are the Palm Jebel Ali (to be completed in 2008), and The Palm Deira.  The Palm Deira is a collection of 300 artificial islands that will reflect the map of the world with “countries” such as Ireland and the USA , which can be purchased a given a “deed” of sovereignty.  Also being constructed on is the Burj Dubai, which will be taller that Taiwan ’s 101 Building, making it the world’s hightest building.  The Burj will also include the largest mall in the world with 12 million square feet of space and about 1,200 shops and venues.  And also added will be Dubailand, a Disney-typed theme park that will be twice the size of Walt Disney World and will offer theme parks, residences, hotels, sporting venues and an indoor mountain range.  Also among the added are the Madinat Jumeirah, the Burj Al Arab, The Ritz-Carlton, and the One&Only Mirage.

Also a main attraction to tourists when in Dubai, the Talise Six Senses Spa is set among tropical landscapes and offers private courtyards and gardens, outdoor treatment tents, and a health café, Magnolia.  When there, be sure to ask for their signature treatment, the Talise Crystal OpulEssence Facial (80 minutes for $193).  This treatment uses hot and cold crystals and the essence of rose.
